A while ago I wrote about signing up for the Corporate 5K Run at work. As I write this that run is about a week away and I thought I would take a moment to give you a quick update.

First, let me catch you up on my diet and weight loss. I have been counting calories as planned and done a fairly decent job of keeping within my goal range, which is to lose 1 pound a week. Of course, some days I go over that limit (especially if I eat a big meal out), but even then I am often able to keep within a range that should maintain my current weight. I believe there comes a point in most Americans’ lives (several points, if they are being completely honest) where they examine their body, weight or overall health and say to themselves, “I really need to make a change.” I’ve recently reached one of those points in my life. My weight was the highest it’s ever been. My clothes were beginning to get too tight. Dietary constraints had relaxed to a point that I was eating and drinking much, much more than I should.
